have any proposed rule changes to present to the BOD they must be in the office
in writing by July 25, 2008.
We hope to see all of you at the Annual Saturday
meeting, Aug 2 at VFW 8787, 500 VFW Rd,
Austin, TX.

CALDWELL FFA BOOSTER 21st BBQ
The 21st Annual
Caldwell FFA Booster BBQ was a big success this year with 57 teams
participating. This was also the Blackland BBQ Assn. added money event with
$1800.00 paid out to the top 5 winners that were Blackland members.
Report is that
there was $10,000 raised in the calcutta and $7,500.00 was paid out to the
winners. Other than the heat everyone had a great time. Lee and Cathy
Demottier do a great job on this event each year.
Laverne, Peggy,
and Pat made sure that the judging ran smoothly.
Congrats to
Angie Pruett, Grillin’ Granny on being named Grand Champion and to all that got
their name called.
Watch the
calendar for next year’s date and plan to attend this event.
The IBCA's first New Mexico event in Silver City
was a great small event. Alex Ocheltree was
great to work with
and with 16 teams, it was a New Mexico State
Championship qualifier for the American Royal and
the Jack Daniel
lottery.
We had teams from AZ., N.M., and Texas attend—the
teams were allowed to vend to the public with a
portion going back into the event.
Alex stated that it would bigger and better next
year so watch the calendar for this event.
The Burnet Music Fest & BBQ was
another successful event. 62 teams competed
for the unique trophies of miniature bbq pits on a
slab of marble. Thanks to Winston and his BBQ
committee for all of their help.
We qlways like to see new events that
have never sanctioned with IBCA have a great turn
out of participates and this past month we had:
Homer’s Backyard Ball & BBQ, Amarillo
benefiting Make a Wish Foundation with 79 teams.
Cattlemen’s Assoc. Sidewalk BBQ at
Madisonville (which is long existing event) had 51
teams this year.
Dawn Mason reports that the Wilson
County Showbarn Antique Tractor Pull & BBQ was a
very successful first time event with 29 teams.
Christina & Craig Mutz did a terrific job of
organizing and putting the event on. They made
the Head Judge’s job very easy. Thanks to all
the cooks and everyone who helped with the cook-off.
A special thank you to Russ and Lana for all
of their help and support.
